What Our Players Say

  • Alex Johanek, Central Valley, Costa Rica
  • Kristin was very helpful when it came to relocating to Costa Rica. I did part of the process on my own and it wasn't easy. I really appreciated how much of the typical "Costa Rican runaround" I was able to avoid by using her services. She also saved me a lot of money on my cashouts by setting me up with Skrill and Neteller accounts.

  • Todd Piotrowski, Tamarindo, Costa Rica
  • Woohoo! Thank you so much kristen for your endless hard work! We are so impressed with your team in Costa Rica, you made this move so easy, I could not imagine trying to do all that work myself. Thanks to you and your team, I had my bank account opened and all the proper documents to stars and tilt as well as playing online within 48 hours of my arrival! Your services are priceless, you have an amazing work ethic, well worth every cent that you charge for the complete relocation service! The rental property could not be better! I did not have a single hassle during the entire process nor do I have a single complaint! you have a great team, you have a very impressive honest hustle going on!...I am impressed. I can only imagine the work going on behind the scenes!...I would never have wanted to do this without your help. TIME FOR SCOOP!

  • Face Stealer (PokerStars), Escazu, Costa Rica
  • Poker Refugees is a great service that I would recommend to any Poker player looking to relocate to an unfamiliar country. They cater to saving their clients the headache, and (most importantly) the time it takes to get set up and back on the grind. Super easy to work with and extremely convenient.

  • Matthew Haugen, Windsor, Canada
  • I was on a time crunch and Poker Refugees came through for me. They made the process easy and answered all of my questions. Great service.

  • Sasha Barrese, London, UK
  • Poker Refugees is a fantastic all in one service and resource for relocation, they exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Kristin is smart, reliable, a pleasure to work with and gets the job done expeditiously...Kristin understands how important it is to get online as soon as you have relocated. She made sure we were up and running on the various platforms by the first night in our new home. There is NO WAY I would have been able figure all this stuff out on my own without losing weeks if not months of playing time. Poker Refugees is a valuable resource for all players there is no point trying to do all the hard work on your own because Poker Refugees rates are affordable. Working with them feels like family.:)

  • Nick Coats, Rosarito, Mexico
  • Poker Refugees was very helpful and made our first move out of the country much easier. Zoila was knowledgable about our city and Kristin was very attentive at every step in our relocation. Without this team, I do not think I would have ever been able to move my girlfriend and our dog out of the US, as they made moving to Mexico much easier then I could have ever expected.

  • Nick Desmedt, Windsor, Canada
  • Poker Refugees made my relocation easier and faster than I ever could have made it on my own. I found an outofthisworld cheap room for rent.

  • Lemagnif on PokerStars, Montreal and Playa del Carmen
  • I used poker refugees to relocate from Florida to Montreal. I've been up here since Aug 2013 and without her help the transition definitely would have been more arduous. Kristin helped set up a Canadian bank account, Skrill account, and all the documents that i would need to send to Pokerstars so that I could start playing again. In 2014, I moved from Canada to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Together with Kristin I was able to find a really great apartment for me and my dog that was conveniently located and in a safe neighborhood. Highly recommend to anyone who is considering relocation.

  • James Romero, San Jose, Costa Rica
  • Everything is great, thank you so much for help. You crush this stuff.

  • Alex Sokolovsky, Malta
  • I used Poker Refugees services to move from Israel to Malta, luckily for me Kristin was there at the same time. She helped me tremendously, my relocation went through really smoothly and I had everything set up pretty much instantly. Although she is one person handling many players cases at same time she was always there to help for any need or request I had.

  • Brian Pinkus, Vancouver, Canada:
  • Just wanted to post a few thoughts about my recent move to Vancouver and to thank Poker Refugees for their help. After having a good WSOP I was bummed that I would likely be spending another year without online poker. Last year I missed online poker so much that I even logged into the play money tables just to see what it looked like and to see if my account was even still there. After logging in I was sad to see that my avatar was gone ;(

With the prospects for legislation dwindling yet again I suddenly realized I needed to get off this merrygoround. Feeling the need to finally take the issue into my own hands I started doing some research, but after reading through several threads I was even more confused. Thankfully one of the threads talked about a company called Poker Refugees.

The next day I was able to get Kristin from Poker Refugees on the phone. She was the first person that seemed to really be knowledgeable about the entire process. In addition unlike some of the threads, her general approach was "tell the truth". I wasn't about to go to a foreign country and lie to government officials as some suggested. Shortly after our conversation we set the date for my move. With Kristin's guidance she made the entire process truly effortless.

I can't explain the feeling that I had this weekend as I logged in for the first time and up popped my old avatar!!! I felt truly blessed sitting at my new desk playing WCOOP while watching boats in the harbor. Obviously my choice isn't for everyone, but for me I just decided to stop waiting for someone else to do something about it. I feel as if a friend has returned that I haven't seen in years. Lastly, if you can't tell by now I'm extremely grateful to Kristin for the hard work that she put into my move. I'm really rooting for her to do well given how far above and beyond she went in helping to process my move. If you are looking for help I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Poker Refugees!

  • Seth LaFountain, Rosarito, Mexico
  • I moved down to Rosarito on my own in November 2014. Everything was going great until I won a decent sized tournament on stars. Now they wanted me to verify my account. This process took almost a month and didn't even reach any significant conclusion. They wanted documents that I could not provide them (utility bills in my name, bank statements from down here). The reason I didn't have those two things was everything was still in my landlord's name and banks were turning me away saying I wasn't approved. I had no idea what their basis on that judgement was. Anyways, after a month, I heard about Poker Refugees Service and contacted them explaining my concerns. Kristin was able to help me get set up in a super easy and efficient manner. I think everything basically happened over the course of no more than two days. Now I'm verified on Stars, set up with eWallet services, and have a bank account down here to handle all my transfers. Thank you Poker Refugees!

  • SlickDonkey, San Jose, Costa Rica, TwoPlusTwo Forum
  • Hey, I just wanted to give another excellent review to Kristin and the whole PokerRefugees gang. I just did a relocation to Costa Rica with the primary purpose of opening a bank account. After I did my own research, I realized how difficult it is to open an account there and that is when I found out about PokerRefugees. I also heard bad stories of people dealing with the realtors down there.

With Poker Refugees I saved an abundance of time on both the bank account and housing aspect of my trip. It may not have even been feasible to open a bank account there on my own without their service. I also had no headaches when it came to finding a lease or any anxiety that I could get scammed.

Kristin was extremely thorough with handling my situation and literally every small detail of the trip was outlined. This even included the best places to eat, bars, entertainment, etc, pertaining to my location.

I was picked up at the airport by their driver, Minor. He was a great guy and even took me grocery shopping before dropping me off at my apartment. The next day, Mau took me to the bank with all the necessary documents and I had an account opened in literally 30-45 minutes. He then took me to the nearby mall where I was able to purchase a backup internet stick and a cell phone with the help of his translation. So I had all this accomplished within a day of arrival. I also was able to get my Skrill and Neteller running again and with instant VIP status on both thanks to Kristin's reference.

Again, the whole process is totally smooth and painless. I had a few doubts going in, but my expectations were exceeded and was very happy with the service.

  • Brian D, BDSPKRSTR on Stars
  • I have been in Samara for 4 months now and am all set up. I was able to take care of everything myself, but my experience is a testament to what you do for sure. It took me over a month and was many headaches later when I finally was back online. If I was to do it over again I would just use Poker Refugees for sure.

  • Nick Johanek
  • Ryan got up and running in record time. Once we sent the paperwork to Stars, they had him running in about 3 days. Thanks so much for your help. Nicki scrambled to make things work before she left on her trip (which is highly appreciated). Mau was great... his English was damn near perfect and we had a nice time eating lunch after he helped us with the bank account.

  • Ryan Neilly
  • I used PokerRefugees to come to Costa Rica about 45 days ago, moving here is not an easy task at all, and getting setup in a spanish speaking country is reallllllly tough. They helped me w/ everything possible, and made sure I had everything I wanted when I got here. A+ service, def worth ~1800-2500USD~ They've helped with every tedious thiing from getting online to getting to the doctor, just amazing people! The help w/ getting a bank account itself is worth $500 after you try you'd understand. so much paperwork needed that they just take care of for you. Can't say enough good things about the service,

  • James Doherty - MistTheFlop
  • Hey my name is James Doherty. I actually did not initially use the Poker Refugees service. Six of my friends and I decided to do it ourselves in Costa Rica. This was a few months before Kristin started offering her service. For anyone debating on purchasing this service, let me make the decision easy and say, "do it". My friends and I struggled obtaining all the necessary documents for Pokerstars. It ended up taking us about 2 weeks of running around to various places, while barely speaking the language. Obtaining a bank account by yourself is absolutely absurd. I contacted Kristin in early fall, in order to get a new bank account. I couldn't believe how easily she was able to get everything you required for the banks. She was incredibly efficient and professional throughout the entire process, moreover she's a really cool girl. Kristin and her team basically take care of everything for you the minute you step off the airplane. So if you're worried about organizing a ton of things, the service does it all. All you have to do is bring yourself, and some of the necessary paperwork. I highly, highly, highly, recommend this service for any poker players contemplating the move.

  • Tyler Forrester - Gogol's Nose
  • I decided to go Costa Rica after going to Canada. I went online and started researching opening a bank account and renting a house but it was really complicated. I had read about Poker Refugees and I signed up because they could accomplish everything I needed, speak Spanish and even get me in touch with other American poker players currently living in Costa Rica.

Nicki Smith organized an airport transport to a very nice and affordable bed and breakfast, to stay at while I looked at properties. After looking at 9 properties, I decided to rent a place that another American poker player was vacating in two weeks. Nicki and Kristin arranged for me to stay with him until he moved into his new place. I was able to start playing on my unlocked Stars account the same day.

Kristin & Nicki also helped me organize all my documentation to open a bank account. It would have taken me weeks to do it on my own, but Kristen had handled everything with a few days of my arrival. Then she helped me transfer the internet and cable into my name, which I never could have down with my elementary Spanish skills. Kristin has made the whole process of relocating to play poker very smooth. I'm currently getting a car and starting to take Spanish lesssons. I'm very glad I chose Poker Refugees to help me relocate.

  • Scott Stewart - yaboystu
  • Poker Refugees and Kristin were a big help when I relocated down to Costa Rica. She was very personable and helpful learning the ins and outs of Costa Rica. With their guidance, I was able to open a bank account in 1 day.

  • Chris Podlewski - SImSimmy
  • I spent a considerable amount of time researching moving to another country to play online poker and driving into Canada multiple times to look for a place to lease and ended up being denied entry. When I used Pokerrefugees to move to Costa Rica, I spent a lot less time and they set up everything for me to move and get back to playing. It was definetly worth it to use Poker Refugees and now I'm playing on the beach instead of freezing in Canada :)

  • Matt Heller - M0SDEF
  • Poker Refugees are really on the ball and have our asses covered with everything we need.

  • Matt Bodnar - Golden_nug
  • I don't think I would be here and grinding to my full potential again if it wasn't for Poker Refugees. I really do love my life here and it definitely wouldn't be possible without Kristin, Nicki and Poker Refugees.

  • Ronit Chamani
  • Working with Poker Refugees really helped with the transition of moving to a new Spanish speaking country. The women who run the show are ready to help with every call, every question, they put you in contact with the right people to do the things needed to be done, make sure that you get the opportunity to meet poker players who have moved here, they contribute to a sense of community. Even long after you are settled they are always available for constant support and send you great e mails with extra info to assist even further.

It's been great to start this journey with them, and to have woman who become friends in an unfamiliar world.

  • Brent Courson - lozingitall
  • Choosing to go with Poker Refugees wasone of the most +EV decisions I have ever made. Moving to anothercountry can be a daunting task, and I was wasting countless hours andweeks trying to choose a location and find an apartment on my own. The vast knowledge and experience the Poker Refugee team has with theCosta Rica markets allowed me to find a place much quicker than Iever could have imagined. Not only was I able to view and choose aplace within three short days, but they were also able to set me upwith two great roommates, further reducing my monthly budget. Theyallowed me to get back to focusing on what I do best . playingpoker and making money. If you are thinking of relocating to anothercountry, you should definitely hire Poker Refugees. Your bankrollwill thank you

  • Matt Stout - Allinat420
  • If you're thinking about moving to another country to play online poker, especially Costa Rica, you probably need Kristin and Poker Refugees more than you think. This is especially true if you don't speak Spanish fluently and will need help with just about everything you need to do. She did everything she could for Joe Cappuccio and I to make us feel at home in a foreign country and spent the rest of her time doing research and running around town getting everything squared away to get us back online and grinding ASAP. I really can't thank her enough for everything she put into our relocation.

  • Gino Levrini
  • Anyone thinking of relocating should definitely sign up with Poker Refugees. It's a no-brainer. I can't even imagine how it would've all worked out if I didn't. It has made life just that much easier and has also been a giant web of contacts I've made since first meeting Kristin. As far as getting a place, setting up a bank account, and having lots of people around you, Poker Refugees took care of all of that.

  • Adam Ross
  • I got back on PokerStars within a few days of my arrival at my new home in Jaco Beach, Costa Rica thanks to Kristin knowing exactly what documents PokerStars requires. The move for me was a huge transition and Poker Refugees has been instrumental in making the transition as smooth as possible. I have been hearing that there are other grinders who are thinking of making the move and hiring Kristin at Poker Refugees is totally +EV.

  • Dan Smallidge
  • I would highly recommend using the pokerrefugees service. The service was very professional and worth every penny. My transition from the US to Costa Rica went smoothly and I was back up grinding within a couple days of arriving in Costa Rica. Kristin is great and helps any time I have a question.

Some of the other players in my building used a different service and their transition didn't go as smoothly. They had problems with housing, internet, and documentation for getting back online.

  • Jenny Fittock and Colin Oldacre - Chimera252
  • You ladies at Poker Refugees are FANNNNNNNTASTIC :))))))

  • Clint Brotherton - Beatiful Man
  • What is great about the Poker Refugees service is that you aren't disconnected after you move in and open your accounts. Kristin and Nicki are always an e-mail or phone call away for help with setting up rides to the airport, maid services or suggestions about restaurants and nightlife.

  • Shera Simpson - girlfriend of Daisyxoxo
  • I have really enjoyed working with the Poker Refugees team.Throughout the entire moving process we had very little to worry about because Kristin took care of everything! Kristin has been able to make the move to Costa Rica a pleasant experience and I would recommend Poker Refugees to anyone! They have made this move so simple and enjoyable!

  • Jimmy Rong
  • Thanks so much Kristin; I'd love to take you and your team out to dinner as a thank you for all the good work you've done for me.

  • Will Griffiths - Founder, Level Media
  • I have known Kristin Wilson for a number of years. She has helped my business, family, and friends to find the right location in Costa Rica. Her knowledge and vast experience in the local market coupled with her ability to listen to your requirements and perfectly match this to her network of contacts make her your ideal partner. She is fluent in Spanish and English and is incredibly fun and friendly to work with. She gets you results at the price you want!

  • Shannon Shorr
  • I cannot recommend the girls at Poker Refugees more highly. A friend and I needed to get relocated to Costa Rica quickly before the WCOOP, and Poker Refugees made it an unbelievably smooth, easy process. They were at our disposal almost 24/7 during the relocation process and saved us countless hours of trouble given that we didn't speak Spanish. You'll regret not hiring Poker Refugees if you're trying to relocate.

  • Derek Dobashi
  • Amazing service. Much more than expected. Arrived in Canada on Tuesday and playing on PokerStars on Wednesday. Kristin, Nicki, and MD were a pleasure to work with. They made sure that all my questions and concerns were taken care of in a prompt and professional manner.

  • Anthony Maio, Joe Liberta & Gionni Demers
  • A group of us Relocated to Canada from the states a month ago. We gave Refugees a three-week window to be up and running before WCOOP. We were on PokerStars the first day we got there with a fully furnished apartment with everything we asked for. I can honestly say without their planning and advice, our trip probably never would have happened, as there was much more to do then we ever anticipated. Thank you!

  • Owen Glenn - ducksoup45
  • Needed help back on FTP and poker refugees got me on in less than 24 hours! Highly recommended.

  • Justin Goldberg; GoldnEagl PokerStars; Goldy3311 FTP (Whistler, Canada)
  • Total relocation was much easier than I thought it would be. I didn't have to do much but tell Refugees what I was looking for and where, and they took care of the rest. Total time from arrival to grinding was less than 3 days. I was very happy with that timeframe. They had all documents for reinstatement that were the right size/format so the poker sites would accept them ASAP. Deposited on Stars and my account was reactivated. Poker Refugees is totally worth it IMO; they handle everything so you can focus on other things. Really seamless and very much recommended.

  • URmyATM247 (PokerStars) / Andrew Kappes

  • Brandon Navarrette
  • Thank you for answering my questions, Kristin. I really appreciate it and I must say you and your program seem very genuine and great. I am absolutely excited about the whole thing.

  • Adam Ross
  • You are and have been the single greatest catalyst for all that I have gained in the past 18 months. Truth be told, I am not as good of a poker player as a lot of your clients, but I found my niche and made it work.

  • Ramesh Hulugalle
  • Your team is awesome, super professional, and did a great job at the bank. Your employees are super smart and very helpful. Thanks so much for answering all of my questions and helping me with my concerns.

  • nofair18 on PokerStars
  • I used to grind in a cramped studio apartment in the cold Midwest. Now, for less money, I'm living in a spacious 2-floor condo one minute away from the beach, with a pool in my backyard and a maid cooking meals and cleaning the house. The location in Costa Rica that Poker Refugees found me definitely exceeded expectations.

  • Stan Silver
  • I just wanted to thank you for your help in relocating to Mexico. It's nice to find someone so knowledgeable about what at first seemed like a maze!! To anyone thinking about making a move, I highly recommend making things easy on yourself and use her services. Nice to deal with someone who actually knows and understands the dos and don'ts. Thanks again!!

  • Brad Huddleston, Canada
  • Kristin was amazing. There were some technical issues (all from Pokerstars' end) that kept them from approving my account. I am sure that without the help of Kristin and Poker Refugees I would still be waiting to get online. She not only provides a top notch service at a good price but if there are issues she knows exactly the people to call to get your issues resolved. If you play for a living and need to relocate this service is the only way to go. Thanks Kristin!

  • Drew J, Rosarito, Mexico
  • I just want to thank you for all your help the past few months. I can't imagine how I could have done any of this without your help.

  • aggie69, PokerStars
  • Kristin - Ready to go! Thanks so much. I must say, not sure you charge enough money [at Poker Refugees], you really made the impossible possible.

  • Ron Phipps, Panama
  • I recently moved to Coronado, Panama and Poker Refugees was instrumental in getting me online quick. I chose to use their accounts activation and Neteller service. I would have been up even quicker if I didn't have other things to take care of during the move. Kristin provided a lot of information before I arrived and followed up with me often to see how things were going. She provided detailed instructions so there would not be a hold up on the accounts. She also spoke with my property manager to request the docs I would need. Their Neteller VIP service is great as well and it was the only solution I could go with here in Panama unless I wanted to spend the time and money to get a local bank account. I only play poker part time, but the small fee I paid for the help was worth it for sure, I would have wasted a lot of time trying to do this on my own. Thanks!

  • Tyler Phillips, Budapest, HU
  • From securing an apartment, to helping us with Stars document verification and setting up bank accounts, Poker Refugees was a huge help with virtually every facet of the relocation. About three weeks prior to the move, I communicated with Kristin almost daily and she answered all of my questions. In addition, she did heaps of research to ensure our relocation was as seamless as possible.

  • Jason Goldfinger
  • I used Poker Refugees to setup my bank accounts offshore. I was hesitant at first to give money to a company just to setup my bank accounts, but it is truly the only way to get things done. They are professionals in every sense of the word and took care of everything that I needed. I have three more friends that are accompanying me here and they are also using Poker Refugees because the process of setting everything up is so tedious and virtually impossible to get through even if you know Spanish at a conversational level. They have every step planned and prepared to get everything done as efficiently as possible. Relocating can be very frustrating and time consuming, and Poker Refugees is definitely the best asset you can have while doing it.

  • Mike Sanchez, Costa Rica
  • Oh I had mad fun, ur service is number 1 thanks for everything!

  • Alejandro Duque
  • I wanted to say that I am really grateful for your help in getting my account back with Pokerstars. Without your help this move wouldn't even be happening to begin with. Thanks again, literally changed the course of my next few months, hopefully for the better!

  • Andy Taylor
  • Your company, and YOU Kristin, have definitely provided a valuable service over the past year!!! I appreciate your help!!!

Anonymous, Mexico: I really appreciated Poker Refugees helping me set up my bank accounts, Netteller and Skrill accounts the first day so I could be up and running by my second day here. It was a CULTURE relocation. Me gusta Kristin mucho!

I did not know anything about moving to another country and I have always been told that the "USA is the greatest country in the world".
